It's surprising, even though Seanez has amassed a 7.71 ERA in 4.2 innings this spring. He had a 3.79 ERA last season and was only owed $550,000 plus a $150,000 roster bonus, although he did have incentives that could have taken his deal up to $1.3 million. Before last season, the 16-year veteran had said he'd retire if he didn't make the Dodgers.

Seanez, who was released by the Dodgers last week, will reportedly be activated to the Phillies' major league roster prior to Wednesday's game. Seanez was knocked around this spring, and he'll struggle to put up numbers similar to his 3.79 ERA from last season, but he should provide cheap depth to a shaky Philadelphia pen. To clear space, Rule 5 pick Tim Lahey could be sent back to the Twins.
