The Denver Post reports that the Athletics want Andre Ethier, Andy LaRoche and a prospect from the Dodgers in exchange for Joe Blanton.
Billy Beane is really working the "best available arm" angle to drive up Blanton's price, but it's unlikely the Dodgers would give up both Ethier and LaRoche for him.

This guy must be higher than I have ever been if he thinks someone is dumb enough to do that. More like Pierre, Nomar and a good pitching prospect.

They wouldn't want them just as no one in their right mind would give up that much for Blanton. That was my whole point!!!

a desperate team will give Beane what he wants or he'll keep him. No way in hell do we just give away an innings eater who is under control for 3 years and who would do better in most NL parks.

Dodgers are far from a desperate team and Blanton isn't good enough to be asking for the price they did.

Colletti might dumb enough to do it, as we've seen with his ridiculous Esteban Loaiza acquisition. Still, the idea that Beane thinks he can rip us for my our young major league players when he traded a much better pitcher in Haren for Carlos Gonzalez and a bunch of minor league nobodies is out of line.

I doubt any team would give up that much talent for Blanton. Mofo makes a good point plus guys like Livan Hernandez, Lohse and Colon are still available. A desperate team is not going to be willing to sell the farm for Blanton.

Lohse isn't getting Silva money. That is why he hasn't been signed yet. Only the Mets have prusued him lately and that's on a one year basis. Rather sign a guy like Lohse then give up the future for a guy like Blanton.

Now Lohse has his Silva type money after a decent year. The Phillies did give up a good blue chip second baseman for Blanton but that's it. Nowhere near the package mentioned above.
