    Izturis on his way out?

    It's on the bottom.

    Shortstop for sale

The Dodgers are shopping former Gold Glove shortstop Cesar Izturis, who'd prefer not to be a backup outfielder for them.

My two cents: They'd be better off playing him at second base and Jeff Kent at first, and chalking up Nomar Garciaparra as the mistake he is.
This just stood out to me, because I remember Izturis's defense and it's just a shame he's not playing. I'm not aware of his offensive abilities, but his defense is too good for him not to be out there in the IF.

    Thoughts?

I'm not aware of his offense either.

I remember an at bat Izturis had a few years ago where he fouled off something like 14 balls and then hit a home run on the next pitch.

He could definately be a starting SS on most teams... For his sake I hope he is traded... Even with Gonzalez being the BoSox SS, I would love to see them try and make some deal for Izturis.
"They asked me if I wanted the ball in Game 6, and I said yes. I'll always say yes. That's what I did with Jack McKeon. I told him, 'Let me see how I feel tomorrow.' I went out, did a long toss, came in and said, 'I'll pitch, I want it, I want to do it.' And it ended up working out." -Josh Beckett

Come on Jim Bowden. Get off the sauce and do this. Anyone but Guzman and Clayton. Izturis sucks offensively, but Guzman and Clayton outsuck him ten times over per.
