Getting rid of Finley was a good thing but I think signing Weaver was the best move. Weaver is a solid pitcher and should be a good boost for their rotation, and will only make it harder for the Rangers this year.

harder for the Rangers to do what? Finish in 3rd place?

I picked Romero because they needed a lefty in the pen, but adding Weaver after losing Byrd and Washburn is a lateral move at best. His career numbers are worse than both Byrd and Washburn and is a downgrade IMHO. This was a crap offseason for the Angels.

If they do finish 3rd it will be a much better 3rd than usual. hah
Don't expect them to roll over and play dead though. They will compete this year, barring injury.

I agree with Providence A's that acquiring Romero was probably their best offseason move but in all honesty it's sad when your best offseason acquisition is a MR.
"They asked me if I wanted the ball in Game 6, and I said yes. I'll always say yes. That's what I did with Jack McKeon. I told him, 'Let me see how I feel tomorrow.' I went out, did a long toss, came in and said, 'I'll pitch, I want it, I want to do it.' And it ended up working out." -Josh Beckett

I don't expect them to do that. I expect them to be up there pre-allstar break and to fall apart as their pitchers get BBQ'd in the heat post-allstar break.

I went with the Weaver signing. I liked that it was just a 1 year signing.

Finley finally reached the point in his career in which, it's over. Alfonzo gives the halos a more reliable bat.

Finley isn't over yet just being two years removed from a 40+ homer season. He hit well when he was healthy last year which wasn't long.

I combined two of the options going with Romero and Carrasco adding to an already impressive pen. Now you have Carrasco and Romero joining Donnelly and Shields and taking the pressure of these guys.

I voted for the signing of the Booster Rocket. He won't be as effective () as he was () in Dodger Stadium, but it's a solid 1-year signing and beats giving Washburn a 4-year deal. However, IMO, Carrasco will bust after being a 1-year wonder.

    Angels

I'm still shaking my head trying to figure out many of the Angels offseason moves....but the one that makes the most logical sense was the removal of Finely. You all know I have been a Finely fan and was pulling for him to recover....but he just wadnt cuttin' it....I will be keeping an eye on SF and his progress up there......

Paying that much money for a fourth OFer makes me sick but he will get plenty of at-bats helping out in the late innings and giving Bonds and Alou days off. Plus he coming to a division with much weaker pitching. Coming back to the NL is a good thing. Too bad the Angels didn't save that much money since they had to take Alfonzo's contract.
