    Washburn to the DL

    Angels placed LHP Jarrod Washburn on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 25, with inflammation in his elbow.
    ''Structurally, everything's OK with Wash, but he's got a little inflammation in there and we don't want it to get any worse. That's why we've been taking every precaution we can,'' manager Mike Scioscia said. ''He needs a little more time to see if it'll calm down some more. Hopefully, we can keep this at a minimum for the rest of the season with some anti-inflammatory medication.'' Chris Bootcheck will get another start in place of Washburn on Saturday.

    That is horrible news, if only because Oakland is still a very hot team and that forces an unproven Bootcheck to start if he isn't already (and if he is, could be worse in Wash's spot). Washburn has been surprisingly good this season after Ortiz took him deep in the ALDS...hopefully he will get back to his healthy self for the Angels sake.
