    Angels Bad News for Kendrys

Kendrys Morales has been shut down due to soreness in the ball of his left foot.
He was sent to see a specialist Monday in Los Angeles. Morales was already expected to begin the season on the disabled list, so the last thing he needs is another setback. He'll need to be able to run without any issues before the Angels even think about bringing him back.
If the Angels have any hope of competing for the West this year, they need Morales in playing shape as soon as possible. Mark Trumbo has been tearing it up this spring so maybe he can do a good job filling the void. FANTASY ALERT!

Mark Trumbo is definitely a kid that can fill the spot, at least for a few weeks. He can play well in the field and can hit the ball as well as anyone can. Not as much power as Morales, but he'll do OK.

Definitely good news for Trumbo. At his age and some of the numbers he put up, he definitely needs to show if his bat has life beyond a AAAA label and this would be the perfect opportunity.

Kendrys Morales will have surgery on his left ankle to remove scar tissue, which will sideline him for a minimum of six months.
Ouch. Obviously this is the worst-case scenario and a huge blow to the Angels and fantasy owners that gambled on Morales having a bounce-back year. The original fracture that Morales suffered last season in his infamous celebration at home plate has healed, but the scar tissue evidently is giving him enough problems that doctors felt the only reasonable course of action was more surgery. Assuming they don't look for help outside of the organization, the Angels will now roll with Mark Trumbo at first base for the rest of the season.
Such a good talent will miss almost two seasons because of a homerun celebration. How pathetic is that?

Mark Trumbo will get a much longer look now. If he does well, Morales will be expendable.

Trumbo has a long way to go. He's going to have to learn plate discipline at the big league level which is never a good idea but has worked out before but rarely. He's definitely got the thump, just need to see if he has the eyes.

Trumbo is no Morales that is for sure, but he is currently making the most of the full time situation at 1B for the Angels right now. Trumbo is currently hitting .262, 7 HR's, and 21 rbi. That is pretty serviceable , but certainly not Morales type numbers.
