Angels What Do The Angels Do Now?

Now that Teixeira has signed with the Yankees and Arte Moreno stating there will be no Manny signing, what should the Angels do? They have lost a lot of offense with both Teixeira and Garret Anderson gone. They also lost their closer. Peavy would definitely help offset the lack of offense and Lackey is needing an extension. How will they spend their moeny?

I think getting Fuentes to close is where they should go to next, after that I'd say look into peavy but I don't think the price is worth it

Aybar plus a prospect or two for Peavy? Would San Diego have any interest in Aybar?

Sign Fuentes next, then lock up Lackey, then try to sign a cheap(er) hitter, maybe a short term Dunn deal, or sign Giambi cheap as a DH?

other: close up shop in LA/ANA, relocate to Mexico, and join the Mexican league.

Well, they would have a tough time going up against whatever Mexican League team Julio Franco is playing for...

They should have signed Fuentes by now, honestly.
I did a lot of good things as a sim league GM.

Ah, give me something clever to say here.

True, I mean, K-rod set the market low, I have no idea why they haven't locked up Fuentes already.

They were waiting to see what happened with Teixeira. The dominoes will fall here soon.

Re: What Do The Angels Do Now?

Signing Fuentes is a no brainer. The Angels really don't have an urgency to sign him though. Fuentes already stated that is where he wants to go, because it would be fun to play in LA. Fuentes took his leverage away by making those comments. Maybe Fuentes should have hired Boras as his agent, because that wasn't the smartest thing to do unless he really doesn't care about the money. Now that the Angels and everyone else knows that is his team of choice, they can wait for his price to drop even more. Signing Fuentes for a discount really is a no brainer, but why rush it?
