    Angels Teixeira Has His Offer

The Los Angeles Angels made an eight-year offer to first baseman Mark Teixeira during winter meetings in Las Vegas.

Team spokesman Tim Mead said Friday that no financial details are being revealed about the offer to the free agent, who is being sought by numerous teams.

Boston, Washington and Baltimore all have expressed interest in the 28-year-old Maryland native, who also met with the New York Yankees ahead of the winter meetings.
It is thought to be $160 million over those eight years. The Angels need his bat and glove badly. Teixeira did an amazing job for the Angels hitting .358 with 13 HRs and 43 RBI in just 54 games. With Vlad's contract running out after the '09 season, the Angels need a new face of the franchise. I hope the Angels can close the deal.

Boston's contract offer will likely be next and most likely what he is waiting to see
"They asked me if I wanted the ball in Game 6, and I said yes. I'll always say yes. That's what I did with Jack McKeon. I told him, 'Let me see how I feel tomorrow.' I went out, did a long toss, came in and said, 'I'll pitch, I want it, I want to do it.' And it ended up working out." -Josh Beckett

At this point I'd be shocked if he returned to LAA, I think they agree by hopping into the Peavy race

With that offer I wouldn't be so shocked.

Peavy is only a fallback option if they miss out on Teixeira. I would be shocked if he didn't return to LAA.
