Erick Aybar2BDLAug 20HamstringEarly SeptemberAngels placed infielder Erick Aybar on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring. Aybar has avoided ever being sent down to Triple-A because of his own injuries and others suffered by Angels infielders. He's hit just .239/.286/.278 in 176 at-bats, so one has to wonder if he would have been better off spending the entire season at Salt Lake.
Mike NapoliCDLJul 28HamstringLate AugustMike Napoli (hamstring) has not been able to run at full speed and likely won't come off the disabled list for at least one more week. Napoli has had a minor setback in his recovery, which was initially scheduled to be completed by now.
Bartolo ColonSPDLJul 24ElbowSeptemberBartolo Colon (elbow) completed a bullpen session Saturday and was scheduled to pitch a simulated game Tuesday in Anaheim. If all goes well, he could start a minor league rehabilitation assignment thereafter and rejoin the starting rotation in the second week of September. After winning the Cy Young in 2005, Colon has been limited to just seven wins the past two seasons.
Chris ResopRHPDLJul 13ElbowEarly AugChris Resop (tendinitis in triceps) threw long toss on Friday. Resop will begin a minor league rehab assignment next week and should return from the disabled list in early August.
Juan RiveraOFDLMar 31LegSeptemberJuan Rivera (leg) is scheduled to begin a minor league rehab assignment Monday. The Angels are expected to give Rivera at least 50 at-bats in the minors before welcoming him back from a broken leg. He's on track to return in early September. "Barring a setback, there's a strong possibility he'll become an option," manager Mike Scioscia said. "He's put together well enough to compete and to see if we can get his game to where he needs to be to play in the major leagues."
Dallas McPherson3BDLMar 31BackAug/SeptManager Mike Scioscia said Wednesday that Dallas McPherson (back) is not likely to play this season. McPherson underwent lower back surgery in January.

"For someone who was never meant for this world, I must confess I'm suddenly having a hard time leaving it. Of course, they say every atom in our bodies was once part of a star. Maybe I'm not leaving... maybe I'm going home."

    Re: Angels' Injury List

Chone Figgins underwent surgery to remove a broken hamate bone from his left wrist.
The Angels called it a bruised wrist when Figgins was injured on Aug. 23. He returned Sept. 8 and struggled some, but he still had a .302 average and an 802 OPS during the final month, which is very impressive for someone playing through such a significant injury. Figgins should be full recovered in time for spring training.
The Angels really need him to be 100% next year. The are going to need all the offense they can get.
