Angels may offer $80 million to Soriano

"The Angels won't spend the rest of the general managers' meetings in Naples, Fla., sulking, though. GM Bill Stoneman said Monday that he's 'thrown some offers out there already,' and one is believed to be to slugger Alfonso Soriano, possibly for six years and about $80 million."

So the Soriano sweepstakes continues for the Angels and the Cubbies. Looks like another war between these two teams. I wonder how it will turn out.

Would they stick him in left with Juan Rivera in center?

I've seen them mention three situations.

    1) Soriano in left, Rivera in center. (best)
    2) Anderson in left, Soriano in center. (not so bad)
    3) Soriano at second, Morales at first. (wow that is bad defense).

And these are all assuming Figgins is booted out the door.

They could stick Figgins at 3b, with Dallas McPherson appearing to be a bust.

I would agree with you here. McPherson had all the credentials a minor league hitter could have, but failed to take the step needed to be a quality major league hitter. Perhaps Brandon Wood will make that step and play 3B for the Angels next season?
This said, if the Angels get Soriano, it is likely he'll play the outfield. They have Kendrick ready to go at 2B, several options at SS and Kotchman at 1B (if he's healthy). I think Figgins goes back in CF, Soriano in LF and Vladdy in right. Rivera could be their DH or possibly be traded to someone for pitching and corner infield backups.
