Angels Lackey named AL pitcher of the month

Anyone recall when he broke out in 2002?

Lackey named AL Pitcher of the Month

How good was John Lackey's July? Not only did it take until July 19 -- his fourth start of the month -- to take a loss, it took until that date to give up a run.

Lackey was named American League Pitcher of the Month for July, a month that featured the majority of his 30 2/3-inning scoreless streak and a near-perfect game.

The 27-year-old right-hander went 5-1 with a 2.08 ERA as his Angels went 19-7 to get right in the thick of the tight American League West race.

I hope that the Angels take the division. Good job Lackey.

Wasn't he a big reason they won the world series in '02?
If the Rangers don't win the division I would be pulling for the Angels. I don't want the A's to win. Congratulations to Mr. Lackey. He is definately turning into one of the better young pitchers in the game.
