Royals Snare, Yarnell Agree To Minor League Deals

SURPRISE, Ariz. (AP) -- Left-hander Eddie Yarnell, who pitched briefly with the New York Yankees in 1999 and 2000, agreed Tuesday to a minor league contract with the Kansas City Royals.

Yarnell was 1-0 with a 5.40 ERA in three starts and four relief appearances with the Yankees. He was the New York Mets' third-round pick in the 1996 amateur draft and was dealt to the Florida Marlins in 1998 as part of the Mike Piazza trade. The 30-year-old Yarnell has also pitched in Japan.

Left-hander Ryan Snare, who pitched for the Texas Rangers in 2004, also agreed to a minor league contract with the Royals. He pitched for four minor league clubs in the Rangers' and San Diego Padres' organizations last year.
