    Royals Addition by subtraction

Brian Bannister has elected to become a free agent.
The 29-year-old Bannister finished with a 6.34 ERA and 1.63 WHIP over 127 2/3 innings for the Royals this season, working as both a starter and reliever. He could have trouble finding a starting job for 2011.
I thought the Royals made a good trade when they traded Burgos for Bannister and considering what came of Burgos I guess it was still a good one but after that first year in KC, Bannister has been complete shit. He made over $2 million this past season so this money will definitely go towards something better.

Bannister will not get a starting job in 2011, but he could be useful at the back end of someone's bullpen.

I never liked the Bannister for Burgos trade, and as it turned out, I like it even less. Royals got a solid SP, at least from what he showed in his time in NY. Never watched him much in KC, but I understand he didn't do so well after year 1. I think someone will give him a shot to prove his worth though.

Not a bad day, get rid of Bannister and gain Mazzaro and Marks.

Mazzaro will be a great addition with Greinke. Oh wait a minute, Greinke may be traded.

I doubt it. Reports are saying the Royals are asking for the world and that Greinke will reject any trade offer to the East Coast but is willing to accept a deal to either LA team.

I have heard similar, especially that he will not go to a high profile market like the Yankees or Red Sox or Mets.

So he's the opposite of Javier Vazquez and pretty much every ring chaser for that matter. Awesome, I like him even more, even if he isn't traded to LAD.
