OAKLAND, Calif. | The Royals have reached a tentative agreement with general manager Dayton Moore on a four-year contract extension that runs through 2014.

The new deal could be announced as soon as tonight.

A good move IMHO. I think they're better than record and should improve. I mean, you've got to give someone time to build up an organization like this. You can expect an overnight turnaround when money is tight and you're building from within. I'd like to see them contending in a couple years. Of course, I hope the A's take at least 2 out of 3 from them in their series that starts tonight, but still

The Royals are a scrappy bunch and they do show signs of life every now and then. But they need pitching and patience in the worst way.

Other than drafting Luke Hochevar over Evan Longoria and Tim Lincecum and then Matt Moustakas over Matt Wieters, yeah, Moore has done a fine job.
