    Royals Gordon To Have Surgery

Alex Gordon will undergo surgery for a tear in his right hip labral cartilage.
More bad news for the Royals. Mark Teahen will probably make another position switch -- if not now, then when Jose Guillen returns -- this one back to third base. Alberto Callaspo and Willie Bloomquist can split time at second base. There's no timetable for Gordon's return, but it figures that he'll miss at least two months.
Terrible blow to the Royals for they were off to a good start. Gordon out for two months leaves a big hole at third and from what it looks like, second base as well. Callaspo has had a good start to the '09 season so he can handle the work load at second. Guys like DeJesus and Butler are going to have to step it up. Gordon was batting a piss poor .095 so this surgery can only help.

This really hurts them. They have taken a big step toward competitiveness. Hopefully, he will make a full recovery.

This is a major bummer. Royal fans are anxiously, and starting to get impatient, for him to have a true breakout season. A little bit of a rough start and now this. Hopefully he can get a full recovery and come back and play like everyone thinks he can.
