Royals Hudson Could Be In Play

ESPN.com's Buster Olney has heard that the Royals are trying to fit Orlando Hudson into their budget.
Without too many suitors, it might not be a tough task. Hudson has drawn mild interest from the Dodgers, A's, Yankees and Mets this offseason, but he's still unemployed. The 31-year-old second baseman hit .305/.367/.450 last season. Olney suggests that he might hit third in the Royals' lineup, behind David DeJesus and Coco Crisp.
If the Royals got Hudson, the Royals finish with a .500 record. Their defense would be vastly improved with Hudson at second and Coco Crisp in CF. DeJesus, Crisp and Guillen make for a damn good defensive OF. The Royals have budding stars and still have the Grienke-Meche combo. Plus they have one of the best damn closers in the game. They would have a pretty good lineup.

    1. DeJesus
    2. Crisp
    3. Hudson
    4. Guillen
    5. Gordon
    6. Butler
    7. Jacobs
    8. Olivo
    9. Aviles

They can make room for Hudson by trading one of the 900 first basemen they have. Teahen is also a guy the Royals could move. If I'm the Royals, I make this deal.

Pretty good lineup to lead the league in whiffs.

Teahen and Buck out of the lineup should help that.

I'd love for them to get Hudson but we'll see what happens. Really the key is will the young projected stars start to live up to their potential?
