    Appier retires

    MLB.com: Appier retires

SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Kevin Appier went out casually but with class and good humor.

Appier came into the Royals' clubhouse for the last time Tuesday and prepared to return to his farm in Paola, Kan.

"Basically, essentially, unless I hear differently today or tomorrow, I'm going to be retired," he said.
I have a feeling he'll make a comeback or get hired somewhere to be some type of pitching coach or coach in general.

He declined these few past seasons.

I won't be shocked if some team that gets a rash of injuries with their pitchers gives him a call at some point. Appier was one of my favorite Royals of all time. Actually, he became the first favorite Royal after Brett retired. Which by the way made him my first favorite Royal of many to get traded.
