    Royals Get Maroth

Royals agreed to terms with LHP Mike Maroth on a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.
Maroth was bad with the Tigers and then horrible with the Cardinals last season, combining to post a 6.89 ERA in 116 1/3 innings. He has a chance to win a spot at the back of the Royals' rotation given the modest competition for jobs, but has very little shot of having a positive fantasy impact.
Maroth will return to the AL Central where he has never fared well. Royals had no lefties in the rotation so Maroth will have his chance to become that guy. Hell, if you're going to get Nomo why not get Maroth.

Maybe he'll challenge 20 losses again with that line up behind him.

I can't wait to see Maroth return to Detroit to face that lineup.

hahahahahaha. Nice guy, but not the greatest pitcher. I never fully felt comfortable with him on the mound. I was glad when he was traded.

I had forgotten about him. I don't even know where he is now. I assume Omaha.

He could reap dividens and flourish in KC. He is a cheap risk, with a possible high return chance. Give him a few starts in AAA-Omaha and have himselfwork into a role that could help the Royals. For example, maybe become a closer, long relief, setup guy in the 7th or 8th innings. Isn't he a lefty, and if so, then make him the left-handed specialist in the bullpen to get out a tough left-handed hitter. Just some ideas for him.

They should try someone new instead of recycling garbage.

that is another option too.. But that seems to be the direction the Royals are heading while they develop their youngsters.
