    Bagwell to have shoulder surgery

Jeff Bagwell is to have shoulder surgery which will sideline him for three months. Jeff, bothered by degenerative arthritis, has no tissue at all between the bones in the right throwing shoulder. It is surgery or retirement and Jeff has decided to go with surgery now so he may play again.

Jeff, who faces complete shoulder replacement after his career is over, is sitting on 449 home runs and really wants to reach the pivotable 500 mark by career's end.

Hopefully this is a good thing. I am glad to finally see him have this surgery. It has been painful to see him struggle like he has over the past few years because of that shoulder. He has still put up decent numbers but not like his old self. Hopefully this surgery will aloow him to go pain free for a while and get back t hitting more consistantly. **** them up Jeff!

This may be the end of a Hall of Fame career.

He did have surgery but it didn't help his problem.

He had surgery in 2001 on the same shoulder. He has had problems since and has required 2 cortisone shots a year just to be able to get through the pain. This year, the cortisone shots have not helped at all.
