RUMOR: Jays looking at Craig Wilson

    per MLB Trade Rumors:

Columnist Marty York is "one of Canada's most popular sports columnists with a track record for breaking big stories." Works for me. In yesterday's column, he tells us that the Blue Jays would like to acquire Craig Wilson by Opening Day.
York mostly disses the team's interest in Wilson, comparing him to other "slow, white guys who can hit relatively well but who cannot run much and who are so subpar defensively that they have to be hidden at positions where they’re least likely to cause problems." He ignores Wilson's .363 career OBP in his comparison. That's the difference, Marty.

MARTY YORK!!!! LOL. I would not put much into what that guy has to say. There's no one more annoying in the Canadian broadcast media than him, yes even Suneel Joshi and Rod Black, and York is always wrong on everything and regularly makes things up - often to "prove" his point.

My friend who's in Toronto right now was telling me the other day how he was on the subway and he picked up one of Toronto's free newspapers to read on the trip.

So he sees a picture of Antonio Davis in the sports section and starts reading the article, it's about how AD probably won't report to the Raptors (this was like a day or two after that deal), but that he would be a great trading chip to acquire Tim Thomas.

The article goes on about what Tim Thomas could bring to the Raptors, and etc etc but clearly such a trade would be illegal in the current CBA, and also how little sense it would make for the Raptors to acquire another swing man when they just made room for Villanueva and Graham.

Anyways, the article was written by Marty York. We hate that guy. The worst of his stuff are the "rumors" he comes up with in his Canadian Football League reports which are just ridiculous and many of them made up.

The Blue Jays have way too many similar (and superior) players as it is. Overbay, Hillenbrand, Hinske, etc etc.

this has been going on all off-season (even last season) and if JP was going to get it done, he would have done so long ago.

the OF and IF is so crowded in Toronto, we have to play Eric freakin' Hinske in RF, not to mention Shea Hillenbrand is already the DH, so unless the pirates really want Eric Hinske so badly they could for free.

and DK is right about Marty York
