Blue Jays Burnett tentatively agrees to 5 year, 55 mil deal with Blue Jays

ESPN's Peter Gammons says A.J. Burnett will likely go to the Blue Jays for five years and $55 million.
Reportedly, Burnett's agent wants to talk with the Cardinals one more time. However, the deal with Toronto could be agreed to within the next hour. It sounds as though the Cardinals just won't guarantee him the fifth year. Watch out for them Jays! If they could pick up a bat, they'd be a contendah.

Hell, they're my sleeper team to run away with the East for a half-3/4 of the year, like the Nats last year, only better. I don't think they have enough hitting to win the division down the stretch, though that can change.

The Jays will have to add a bat who can hit for at least 20 HR now, Miguel Batista is drawing internet from a number of teams

couple of names I heard coming back are Kevin Mench or Brad Wilkerson

also the Brewers would trade Lyle Overbay for Dustin McGowan but I don't see the jays making that move at all

I just have a hard time giving a contract like that to Burnett. Heck, I also think the BJ Ryan one is excessive. I guess only time will tell.
