Mets Lo Duca traded to the Mets

    http://oakland.athletics.mlb.com/NAS...2005&fext=.jsp

Lo Duca, a three-time All-Star catcher, was dealt to the Mets for Minor League pitcher Gaby Hernandez, a Miami native, and another prospect.

A league official confirmed the trade to MLB.com early Sunday night.

The Marlins part ways with Lo Duca two days after they traded three-time All-Star second baseman Luis Castillo to the Twins.

"I figured when they traded Josh Beckett, that this might happen," Lo Duca said in a conversation Sunday afternoon, a few hours before the deal was completed.
They needed a catcher I guess

    Next move will be:

Marlins trade Pro Player Stadium to the Mets for Benny Agbayani and cash.

The Mets make moves every offseason and still don't make the playoffs.

Well this year, they got most of the Marlins from last year, who didn't make the playoffs either. So nothing should change except how the bottom of the standings are ordered.

because all the moves they made last year helped them to a title, too.

Lo Duca is an aging catcher, he was never really all that good, he's not that great defensively, and they just dealt their best pitching prospect (their best that's still THERE, at least) for him, when the market contained two people better, in Hernandez and Molina.

    Poor deal.

uh Kash, I'm just saying they can make all the moves they want, but I still don't think they'll win it all. Prove me wrong Omar.

Clearly Minaya doesn't care about the future, he'll likely be fired before his pitching prospect becomes major-league ready. He wants to win this year because he knows he's gone, hah.

Kazmir for the wrong Zambrano was their worst deal. And that's going to haunt them for a long time.

But um, with the braves pen in serious disorder.. and the marlins being dead, and the Nationals making waves by signing Marlon Anderson(oh, what sarcasm?), and the phillies replacing Wagner and Urbina with... Tom Gordon..

They could win the division. Maybe not easily, but it's not like Philly or ATL are designed on paper to run away with it.

Must the Mets always take L.A.'s former All-Star catchers?

even with montreal, omar was never a guy to wait for prospects, and he always pulled the trigger on mediocre deals (colon for brandon phillips comes to mind... phillips didnt pan out, but nonetheless he was a top prospect at the time... the cliff floyd deal too). so, this is typical of omar... in 3 years when the mets are still mediocre, and omar is fired, they'll by default suck for another 5 years afterwards, because their farm system is barren.

my memory isnt that good... but thats just further proof. turns out the most highly heralded guy in the deal, was the worst of the 3... but nonetheless.
