Cubs Kerry Wood may go on the block

Considering he's going on 28 and is seven years removed from his 20K masterpiece, it's fair to conclude that Wood has become a head case weary of constant media and fan scrutiny. He claims he blocks out negative feedback, saying of the boos, "I didn't hear it.'' Believe me, he hears everything. Last month, in the harshest criticism yet of his delivery and mechanics, radio analyst Steve Stone called out Wood as a stubborn flamethrower who never learned the art of pitching. Said The Evil Stoney, who won a Cy Young Award back in the day: "Wood has shown no adaptability. You can take all the money you've made -- which is a bundle -- and you can go sell cars, or you can make some adjustments and try to stay around this league for 10 years.''

Kerry Wood really needs to change. He has the stuff to be the team's ace, the best pitcher, even on the Cubs staff, but he has not pitched like one. He needs to learn how to pitch. He needs to learn how to get people out with 2 or 3 pitches.
If we could trade Wood for something that will make this team better, I am all for it now. I still love Wood, but he's not helping this team.

Trade his ass to Texas. He would wave his contract to go there.

Do you think he would not waive to play for a contender?

I would take him as the #4 or #5 man in the Yankees rotation. The only issue is that Cubs probably want a King's ransom. I know Cubs fans in my area say every year he is good for 20 wins.

    20 wins over a three-year span, maybe.

He's always had the capability to win 20 games. He just throws instead of pitching. There's a huge difference of capability/potential and what you actually do on the field.

I have the capability of winning 20 games...if you put the right offense/defense behind me

Seriously, the win/loss stat is overated in regards to pitchers

yea, with your 65 mph fastball.

they'll never saw what hit them. :p
    Nobody lookin out for nobody
Maybe we should try and help somebody or be somebody
Instead of being somebody that makes the news
So everybody can tweet about it
And then they start to R.I.P. about it
And four weeks later nobody even speaks about it.

Yeah, but when he mixes in that 40 mph slider, his heat looks like it’s coming in at 75.

In some respects. Where do you draw the line of a really good pitcher vs a so so pitcher then?

300 career wins is an automatic ticket to the HOF. That says something. My original point is that Wood has what 14 as his career high for wins? Please, he needs to have a breakout year before we give him his due.

Kerry Wood is good, but a bit of a health concern. He's also a bit overpaid. Stop wishing for another 20K game and realize what you actually have.
