no its not. He'd expect to make nearly as much during his arbitration years one way or the other. Initially i thought it wasnt a good deal based on the injury and all, then i remembered its mostly covering only his arbitration years, so its pretty much a nonstory.

Or they could've traded him, unwilling to pay any price for him.

But yet the signed him to keep him around. That shows they're willing to pay the price to keep some cornerstones to build a team around.
