Rosenthal is suggesting that it's unclear whether it's the Angels or Dodgers that backed out, though

Not entirely clear why #Dodgers-#Angels trade will not happen. Evidently hinged on three-team trade going down in original form. One source: LAD chose different path after after #RedSox-#MNTwins could not agree on Graterol. Another: LAA’s Moreno grew impatient and pulled deal.
It makes more sense that the Dodgers would be the ones to back out of the deal. Joc losing his arbitration case helps a little bit, if it's still not enough to keep them under the tax, it's at least easier for another team out there to absorb his salary in a dump.
You can say the Dodgers look bad in pulling out, but after the Red Sox reneged on the original deal, all bets were off.
I'm still bummed that the Dodgers' price in the 3-team deal changed from Maeda, Verdugo, and no prospects to having to throw in prospects Jeter Downs and Connor Wong for no reason other than that the Red Sox's higher-ups got cold feet after the original agreement was reported.
