    Natinals get Sean Doolittle and Ryan Madson from A's

    @Ken_Rosenthal
    Prospects headed to #Athletics from #Nationals are LH Jesus Lazardo and 3B Sheldon Neuse. Those two plus Treinen for Doolittle, Madson.
    The return seems like really not a lot. You knew the Nats were desperate yet a couple of prospects nobody's heard of plus a reliever from the Nats' own lousy pen is the best you can do?

    I was thinking the same thing. I imagine the Nats find another piece for the pen too.

    Eh, $25 mil off the books, a reliever, and two high picks from 2016 for a guy that's been on the DL 5 times in the last 5 years or so and a guy that will be 37.

    I think it's good for both teams. There are no guarantees with prospects obviously and these both seem like high risk / high reward types. The reliever has a good track record, but having a bad year. Hopefully, he turns it around. Doolittle and Madson will improve the Nats pen this season. It works for both.

    I don't doubt the A's ability to turn around the careers of slumping relievers in a low pressure situation. The exception was Jim Johnson but I guess you could argue he doesn't count because the A's acquired him at his peak and the A's at the time presented him with more high leverage situations than the Orioles did. I just thought the Nats were ripe for a panic trade, so I'm disappointed and still bitter that Farhan gave up a lot more for The Blisterman and Josh Reddick rentals.
