Trade Boom, Lester to the A's.

Jon Lester traded to Oakland Athletics, Yoenis Cespedes to Boston Red Sox - ESPN Boston

Cespedes is a free agent after 2015, so this is interesting.

Jonny Gomes in that deal as well and the Sox get a draft pick. While I am happy to not have to deal with Lester, I will miss seeing that wild and crazy ex-Ray Gomes. Guess I will get an up close look at Cespedes at the end of August.

Not happy to see Oakland get Lester but I'm fucking ecstatic that Yoenis will no longer be throwing out Angels at home with his laser cannon

Milone traded to Minnesota for Fuld. Fuld has a 1.0 WAR this season. Cespedes has a 1.0 WAR this season.

The monster should negate Cespedes' throwing runners out because no one would be stupid enough to test him there

This timing of acquiring a Cuban OF is interesting with the other Cuban OF about to sign in a few weeks.

Could be a real interesting day, I love lester but gotta gamble in this spot

There's no Monster at the Trop, unless you count catwalks as monsters.

Odds Lester re-signs with Boston after the season?

I saw someone compare Cespedes and Travis Snider, and I couldn't believe it, but there you go...

    .256 .303 .464
    .257 .335 .409

Cespedes is just Travis Snider with more power.

I had them at 0% before this deal but if we are trading lackey and only have cespedes through 2015, combined with reports Red Sox wanted to trade him to a team that couldn't re-sign him makes me think they have decided to pay the piper in the offseason

Cespedes has defense though and was hitting in a pitching friendly park.
