    Signing: Reds re-up Homer Bailey

    Six years, $105 million.

Homer Bailey of Cincinnati Reds agrees on six-year contract - ESPN

I honestly don't know where they're getting the cash from, considering that they're a small market club. Betcha Brandon Phillips bitches and moans about this deal too.

Yeah thats a little too much money, but overall I think it's someone you needed to keep on the roster. He's still got some room to grow I think, so it'll be "kinda" worth it.

The only reason he got $105 million was because he has 2 no-hitters on his resume.

I like it. He's entering his prime, he's gotten better every year, and he's been healthy. If you're going to risk that kind of money on anyone with this staff Homer's a good bet.

I'm hoping Cueto returns to form and then the Reds shop one of them (Cueto, Latos, Leake) for the best bat they can and give what looks like a very anemic offense a potent shot in the arm for the stretch run.

I just don't like what this does for the Cubs discussions with Shark. His agent probably points at this now.

If his agent wasn't already pointing to some of the deals already, then his agent needs to be fired... yesterday. I doubt if Homer's deal means a whole lot in the grand scheme of things.

    Okay?

I think it means more than what you're saying. Relevancy is pretty meaningful and this is the latest of extensions to a pitcher who isn't far and away better than the the one still looking for his pay day.

All I'm getting at is I'm not comfortable giving a glorified number three 105M.

It also doesn't break my heart that a division rival feels different.

Okay, so the Yanks gave Tanaka ridiculous cash and Cashman said he's only a number 3, so I don't see this as being any different. It is what baseball has become.

It's sad, but true. You've got to pay in order to play.
