    Lawton to Cubs for Gerut

Pirates traded Lawton to the Cubs for Jody Gerut.

The big trade of the day.

Ugh. **** Littlefield and his Cubs helping ass.

Some of the deals he makes with the Cubs are senseless, have we gotten anything out of giving them anything over the last 3 years?

I knew Lawton was going somewhere, as the Pirates have really been trying to sell some. I am just glad that he did not go to the Cards. But the Cubs may be just as effective for a division rival.

Eh, not as bad as the rapes that the Cubs pulled on the Pirates last time and the one that Brian Sabean should have been sent to Alcatraz for.

The one where Sabean traded the outstanding 5-tool outfielder Armando Rios and the young stud pitcher Ryan Vogelsong for that stiff pitcher that John Schuerholz used to rip off the Pirates in getting Denny Neagle.

Gerut will be better than Lawton. Good move for the pirates.

Gerut will be 28 soon and with the injuries and decline of stats from 2003 to 2004, I am not really impressed with him. Lawton is overpriced and not anything special but I still think the Pirates could of done better. As for the Cubs, I doubt this will be the move to put them over the top. I know they are getting players back from the DL but it's not liking Nomar and Wood will be at their peak strides instantly.

They could have got more than Gerut. They were raped again. Gerut's skills continue to decline in the field and at the plate. Pirates were better off signing Lawton to a three year deal.

lawton will help the cubs this year. thats all they needed him for. gerut was a waste of space on the cubs. granted, we gave up dubois for gerut, but that was pretty much a wash since Dubois had fallen on hard times (back down in AAA)

gerut is having a hard time returning from his knee surgery last year. and he isnt really any good in the first place.

but whatever, the cubs probably got the better end of the deal since gerut wasnt in the Cubs longterm plans anyways.

Schmidt was crap until he went to SF, so shush. How about Mike Williams for Tony McKnight?

Who's Tony McKnight you ask? Yeah, me too.
