Um, can we have our resident closet Tiger fan to put a spin to this trade?

Colon is going to be just as good as Farnsworth down the road. Unless the Braves magic can come to Farnsworth, I can't see him being much better than he was in Chicago.
Good deal for Detroit. Fernando Rodney gets a chance to close, and if he fails, German is right there.
Thing is, we all have to believe that the Braves and Mazzone can work their magic. Farnsworth may finally be in good hands. he has the stuff, now can he be made into a pitcher?
I have to take Schuerholz's side everytime except when dealing with Dan Kolb.
No love for the dictionary word I came up with?
But still, NL teams knew his stuff when he was with the Cubs, it'd be no surprise if he turns back into the pitcher that he was in Chicago, all potential, little success.Originally Posted by redsrbetter

Colon may or may not be something; with only 3 pitches and a 93 MPH fastball, I don't like his chances. Also, he fell outta favor:
"When Colon became upset that the club had taken him on their charter to San Francisco and then sent him back to Triple-A Richmond the very next day, he lost some favor in the Braves organization. He was promoted from Richmond on Saturday, but hasn't appeared in a Major League game since July 17."
Also, Colon has sucked in the pen and he has no spot in the rotation. Farnsworth has a 100 MPH heater.

Farnsworth will help if the Braves get into a rumble as well.
Or protect other players from players on scrubby teams (i.e. wilson and hernandez)

Don't doubt the effect of the Braves and Mazzone on ANY pitcher, let alone one with the kind of velocity and stuff Kyle Farnsworth has. He could really dominate with the proper coaching. But this is a very smart move for the Braves as an insurance plan. Reitsma has been a solid reliever for quite some time but if he fizzles out at all in the closers role, they have a very high potential guy to step in.
Smart move.
I don't even know wtf the big deal is on Farnsworth, his era is under 2.30
That's fantastic. He could be even more significant if things don't work out with Reitsma closing.

Basically broke down as Tigers had to get something for Farnsworth. They were trying to get an extension done with him and Farnsworth wanted to test the free agency market. Tigers did the best thing they could do get two spects for him. Not a bad deal at all. Not familiar with Colon or Minor.
Farnsworth was a great pitcher here in Det. and one of our best RPs. He'll be missed, but it was all business in this trade.
Colon will be good for the Tigers, if he's happy. Just hope he doesn't come out of the pen.
