Trade Cubs Trade for Jose Quintana

Cubs give up their #1 and #2 prospects for Jose Quintana. Seems like a decent trade for both teams involved except for the Cubs long term. But hey, can't blame the Cubs for doing this as they are sitting 5.5 back from the Brewers. It's also interesting to me that the Brewers were in on trade talks for Quintana and then the Cubs ended up with him.

1 and 2 in the Cubs system becomes 2 and 8 in the White Sox system

The south side is fairly deep.

    Good point.

I just listened to another opinion that said the Brewers didn't get enough for Quintana because he is under control for the next 3 years and has a very affordable contract.

Sucks giving up Eloy, especially after giving up Torres last year for Chapman, but the move makes sense. Cheap cost controlled lefty helps us this year and the next few while also giving us the option going after the top SP FA's in the offseason.

Hopefully this move sparks the team and we can make up the ground Milwaukee has on us.

Yeah it would be tough being a fan of the Cubs and seeing all those prospects go. But with Lackey and Arrieta both set to be free agents at the end of the year it seems like this is a smart move by Theo.

Time to see if they're any good at developing. Good deal for the white Sox, at least they get nice packages for good players. what ever organism runs the Bulls might want to take notes from Hahn. Who's gonna get jobbed on David Robertson? Nats (again)?

He didn't disappoint in his debut either.
