    Soriano comes home to NY

The Yankees are close to acquiring Alfonso Soriano from the Cubs for a mid-level prospect, according to the New York Post.

According to the Post, they'll again take advantage of the loophole that helped them with the Vernon Wells acquisition, allowing them to take most of Soriano's luxury-tax hit this year as opposed to next year, when they're trying to get under the cap. The Yankees' right-handed hitters have been terrible, so Soriano can't help but be an upgrade. He could play left field now and then take over as the primary DH after Curtis Granderson returns.
In desperate need of power, Yankees close to deal for Soriano - NYPOST.com

    Sure, why not!

I'm sure nobody else will agree, but when Broxton struck Soriano out swinging for the final out to advance my Doyers to the NLCS for the first time in 20 years....man, that was better than watching any World Series.

If that's better than watching your team in the World Series, you've got some issues, bud.

We'll see about this. I wouldn't mind it happening. It would open up a spot in the outfield for the next season and a half.

From what I've read, how and when the Yankees get the money is the hurdle both teams are trying to get over. It could be a while before any deal is 'finalized'.

Why are they worried about the cap? Baseball is about to do them a favor and get rid of ARod for them.

    Soriano comes home to NY

Honestly, over the years I've gained respect for Soriano. He's a professional. He always gives it his all. And he really didn't regress all that much, besides speed.

Of course he wasn't worth 18m per year, but he did have value. He's a lot better in LF than most people think.

I'll be sad for a moment when he's gone. But I'll rejoice because we have a lot of youth in the outfield that we can justify playing now.

Apparently the deal is getting closer, waiting on Sori to give it a go.

TomLoxas ‏@TomLoxas 2m Hearing it's close enough that Soriano may not even play tonight for the Cubs. 75% chance I'm told.

Mofo putting words in other people's mouths? No freaking way. Never saw that coming.

I have seen my team win a division series, and I'd sell that a million times just to see the Cubs in the World Series. Just the idea that you would choose your Dodgers fluking their way to the 2008 NLCS, where they lost, over any World Series moment shows that you are either a petty troll on a very small OOTP league forum, or just another one of the countless dumbass Los Angeles sports fans.

    How old are you, anyway?

    Back to the main subject.

I'd be pretty surprised if this trade doesn't go down tomorrow after the way things have gone today.

Fluking their way to the NLCS? This wasn't the Philadelphia 76ers knocking out a Derrick Rose-less Bulls team. The Dodgers swept your Cubs, the team with the best record in the NL that year, in three games, with your best player coming up small in big moments time and time again.

Mofo beating his chest about an NLDS victory is funny considering all the shit he's talked about the Chargers' "meaningless" success because they haven't won the Super Bowl.

Yeah, a fluke, as in, you play that series over and over again, and the odds roll in favor of the Chicago Cubs.
