LOL, a lot of homer optimists on this board. What are you people expecting, Haren to take your team to the World Series next year? Get fucking real.

Maybe I'm just hoping for an improvement to the pitching staff, then whatever comes of it comes?
Of course, that won't stop you from bumping this thread as some kind of proof that I called a World Series title for the Padres should they sign Haren and he flames...or even if he wins a Cy Young and they fail for other reasons.
He'll win MVP!
How would that be any different from the shit I have to hear from opposing fans like you chalking up the additions of Gonzalez, Beckett, and Crawford as a bust so as long as it doesn't lead to a World Series title for the Dodgers?
You're arguing two different things.
Laughing at the would-be signing and calling it a fail/bust because they don't win the World Series after it isn't quite the same as claiming that's what I called or thought would happen.
One uses the typical sports related fallacy that attributes team results to individual worth.
The other uses the typical realmofotalk fallacy of strawman argument.
I'm such a homer optimist because I wanted my team to bring in a legitimate SP.
Mofo, did you see the garbage that was starting for the Jays this season? Anything is an upgrade and a sign on moving forward.
Don't be a homer, foster
Real fans want their team to not improve so they can devote a season long thread to moaning about how their life sucks because their favorite sports team underachieves.
Eh-hem, Leo, you forgot about hating the manager...
Fuck hope. I'm already resigned to having to get shit from Giants fans whether or not I want my team to improve. When the Dodgers didn't spend any money to improve the team because the owner was broke, the reaction from Giants fans was "Well, good, we don't have to worry about them becoming the Yankees of the West", and when Magic and company did finally spend money but it still wasn't enough to win, the reaction was, "Well, good, let the Bums throw away their money while WE win it all THE RIGHT WAY by trading for random fucks like Cody Ross and Marco Scutaro at the deadline."
And I'm sure anything out of Carl Crawford is progress over the garbage named Juan Rivera, Jay Gibbons, Marcus Thames, and Tony Gwynn Jr. that have been starting for the Dodgers the past two years, but I just know the only thing I'll hear about Crawford for the next five years is "BUT HE'S OVERPAID AND OVERRATED!!!11!!!"
Fuck hope and fuck homers. The Dodgers never beat the Mets in the playoffs, anyway. I'm already bracing another 3-and-out. I had a dream about losing to the Mets in the NLCS a few months ago. Fucking typical that my favorite sports team underachieves even in my fantasies.
