    Giants Pence to the Giants

The Giants bolstered their lineup today, acquiring right fielder Hunter Pence from the Phillies and countering the Dodgers' aggressive moves, tweets SI's Jon Heyman.

Pence, 29, is hitting .271/.336/.447 in 440 plate appearances for the Phillies this year. He's under team control for 2013, though his salary could exceed $14MM. Pence joined the Phillies one year ago in a trade with the Astros, but amidst a disappointing season GM Ruben Amaro Jr. is cleaning house.
Giants get the big bat they were needing but no word on what they had to give up for it. Pence is not a rental since he is under control through next year so I imagine it will have to be something nice like Brown. Pence will most likely throw Pagan and Blanco into some kind of a platoon which sucks but the Giants needed some thump. Hopefully Blanco can win the everyday CF job.

That would be a huge move.

I am reading that Tommy Joseph is the center piece of the deal which I am totally fine with!! I expect Schierholtz is part of the deal as well!

Pence isn't a rental, but isn't he due for like 12-14 million in arby next year?

I liked Rosin but the Giants are not giving up anything they will miss. I wish Nate the best!
