Reds Latos to Reds, Alonso to Padres

    Per Rosenthal's tweet
Source: #Reds acquire Latos from #Padres. Yonder Alonso among those headed to Pads. #MLB
Wow! Big move for the Reds who were thought to have been in on Gio Gonzalez. The Padres trade their ace of the future for a 1B when they already have one. Interesting move and I'm sure there will be more to come. I will be gone all day so someone keep it updated.

Giving up on Rizzo already? Or can he or Alonso play another position?

Alonso has played LF but is best served as a 1B. I am surprised since they do have Rizzo. Maybe Rizzo will be trade bait for a corresponding move? It doesn't look like that bad of a haul for the Padres except for the fact they got no one to replace Latos. I'm curious to hear why the Padres did this.

I really liked Grandal in college. Has he amounted to anything in Cincinnati's farm?

Reds were happy to give up on Grandel because of the way Mezzaracco has played. But they MUST sign Votto long term for this to be a good trade. Yonder is the next Tony Gynn in San Deigo. That kid can flat out Rake.

Signs point to a couple more deals in the works for both teams, Rizzo going somewhere and the Reds pursuing another SP in addition to Lactose

I'd love to see the Cubs make a move for Rizzo.

I'm sure McLeod is pushing for it.

Why do the Padres need a 1b/LF who can flat out rake? They already have Kyle Blanks, remember?
