To me it seems like the Reds got raped on this deal. While it gives Cincy the number one starter they've desperately needed, they gave up a LOT to get him.

I also expect Volquez to be pretty good in SD.

Well, it would make sense, they hired some of the chaps that acquired Rizzo. Prospect swap?

I'm pretty sure McLeod drafted him in Boston, and he and Hoyer acquired him in SD.

A prospect swap would make sence, I'm just not sure of who we have to give up. We'd probably have to send a couple of them to SD.

Yeah just go get Juan Castro and trade him for Rizzo. Plus you get added Mofo commentary!

Not so fast my friend. Volquez's issues weren't the long ball, it was control and giving up hit after hit after hit. If SD can get it through his head that he doesn't need to strike everyone out he'll be a stud. But he's been so thick headed that he wouldn't listen.

Also, what did the reds give up? Yes everything they gave up is a high spec, but they gave up a SP (with Latos being signed, Alroldis moving to the rotation) they had no room for him. There were brass in the upper management that flat out refused to use Alonzo in the field except 1B and Votto refused to move so that left him in the cold and Grandel would be behind Mezarraco and even Hannigan for a while. So they gave up pieces that they had no use for. They still need to land a right handed bat, and a possible SS (though they liked their small sample size on Cozart).

Maybe Balsley can knock some sense into him.

The Reds obviously gave up a lot because I'm a Padres fan.

Very true. I'm not sure who I was thinking of.

I'm not disagreeing with you. I think they gave up a good amount, but it was pieces that unfortunalty had a bleak future

Perhaps Latos will finally find his missing T in all of the typos of Cincinnati. *cue Leo's brother*

In case anyone is worried about Latos not doing well away from the safety of Petco, he was pretty good on the road. I'm confident that missing T will be found!
