Except the rest of the Braves rotation seemed to do just fine with the same infield.

Right. The most hilarious post in this thread is your assertion that Derek Lowe sucked because of Chipper Jones and Dan Uggla. All his problems would have been solved if they weren't there. That is my idea of comedy.

Not surprised you oversimplified things. No one said Lowe wasn't at fault but I posted stats showing that his defense did let him down. Only thing funny is that you think this is a bad trade.

    It's a negligible trade.

They did fine because they were better but the defense let them down as well. No one had the GB% Lowe did either. No one is saying Lowe did well, especially in the K/BB dept. but his numbers should have been a lot better.

They did fine because they are good enough to not rely heavily on their infielders to convert tons of groundballs allowed into outs.

Yes, Beachy, Hudson and Hanson were all better than Lowe. Still doesn't take away the fact that Lowe's FIP was nearly a 1.5 runs lower than his ERA. Lowe's numbers weren't as bad as they appeared to be.

FIP takes into account just strikeouts, walks, and home runs. But being a groundball pitcher, so much of Lowe's game is fielding dependent.

We would turn a thread about a bum pitcher into 3 pages. Ladies and Gentlemen, the Off Season!

Well only two pages are of substance I just don't see how anyone could have a problem with this trade

FIP? I thought you hated fancy sabremetric stats?

The reason they dumped Lowe is none of the above... They wanted to save a little money cause their minors are stacked with high upside front end prospects who are rotting in AAA

Not all of them FIP is a pretty simple stat.
