Hah, that's true especially now that Cleveland can't base its economy on LeBron anymore.

    This trade makes no sense.

    Re: Some Minor Trades

Braves acquired OF Stefan Gartrell from the White Sox in exchange for cash considerations.
So that's why Gartrell was mysteriously outrighted off the White Sox' 40-man roster. The 27-year-old hit .255/.316/.448 with 27 home runs at Triple-A Charlotte last season and was off to a .304/.385/.609 start this year. He was not listed among Chicago's top 30 prospects by Baseball America.
He seems to possess some power at least.

Blue Jays acquired RHP Yohan Pino from the Indians for future cash considerations.
Pino, 27, turned in a rough 5.75 ERA and 1.52 WHIP across 26 starts last season at Triple-A Columbus. He will operate as organizational depth for the Jays.
    Hmm

    Re: Some Minor Trades

Blue Jays acquired RHP Chris Malone and a player to be named later or cash considerations from the Rockies for INF Brad Emaus.
Malone has a 4.78 ERA over parts of seven minor league seasons. The 27-year-old right-hander has never pitched above the Double-A level. He'll function as organizational depth.
Emaus helped Collins release Castillo then loses his job in a matter of weeks. I love it!

    Re: Some Minor Trades

Brewers acquired OF-1B Jordan Brown from the Indians for cash considerations.
He'll head to Triple-A Nashville. Brown, 27, has a .305/.369/.471 batting line over parts of seven seasons in the minor leagues. He underwhelmed in his first taste of the majors last year and is unlikely to be anything more than organizational depth moving forward.
Brown only got 92 PA last season so its not like he got a real shot or anything. He's not a power guy but can get you some doubles.

    Re: Some Minor Trades

Braves acquired OF Jeff Fiorentino from the Orioles for cash considerations.
Fiorentino, 28, played in Japan last season and has a .270/.341/.324 batting line over 173 major league plate appearances between the Orioles and Athletics. He's expected to serve as organizational depth at the Double-A level.
    Woo hoo

    Re: Some Minor Trades

Royals traded OF Gregor Blanco to the Nationals for a player to be named later.
The Nationals will not add Blanco to their 40-man roster and he will report to Triple-A Syracuse. Blanco, 27, batted .274/.348/.369 with one homer and 11 RBI over 203 plate appearances last season. He's not a huge difference-maker, but knows how to take a walk and can play all three outfield positions relatively well. Blanco will provide outfield depth for Washington, which currently has starting center fielder Rick Ankiel on the disabled list with a right wrist strain.
Not a bad trade for the Nationals getting some OF depth in the minors. Blanco has MLB experience and is a decent 5th OFer.

    Re: Some Minor Trades

The Pirates announced that they traded right-hander Cesar Valdez to the Marlins for cash or a player to be named later. It wasn't long ago that Valdez was a PTBNL himself. The D'Backs sent him to Pittsburgh in December to complete the deal that sent Zach Duke to Arizona. Valdez, who pitched 20 innings for the D'Backs last year, has spent this year at Triple-A. The 26-year-old has a 3.86 ERA with 7.7 K/9 and 3.6 BB/9 in 42 innings at Indianapolis.
If he could cut down his walks, he could be a decent mop up guy.
