Holy shit! The A's aren't ****ing around this offseason. Getting Beltre would be huge for the A's for many reasons: the Angels love and want him, great defense and of course the offense. If he accepts this the A's will say bye bye to Encarnacion and Kouzmanoff. Adding DeJesus and Beltre improves this team dramatically. It will be interesting to see what the Red Sox and Angels do from here because five years is a long contract and I'm not sure a lot of teams are willing to go that long and I don't blame them but the A's have to do what they can to lure big names like that to Oakland.According to Enrique Rojas of ESPN.com, the Athletics offered Adrian Beltre a five-year, $64 million contract.
That's more like it. In fact, this is the same exact contract Beltre signed with the Mariners when he cashed in on an MVP-caliber season with the Dodgers in 2004. Beltre's representation will obviously do their due diligence here, but if true, this is a pretty nice offer for someone who turns 32 in April.
