A's win the bidding for Japan's Iwakuma | MLB.com: News

Major League clubs had until Saturday to enter the posting process for the services of the 29-year-old right-hander. The bid was reported to have been for a higher sum than the Golden Eagles originally expected through the posting process. The A's will have 30 days to reach a contract with Iwakuma.

Iwakuma posted 21 wins and a 1.87 ERA in 28 starts in 2008 for the Golden Eagles, who play in the Pacific League. A 10-year veteran, he pitched for Japan in the World Baseball Classic prior to that season, earning a spot on the All-Tournament Team while helping his homeland to the title. Iwakuma went 10-9 with a 2.82 ERA this past season and was 13-6 with a 3.25 ERA in 2009.
Rumor has it Beane will try to flip another starter (and specs?) for a hitter.
