Astros [Rumor] Oswalt reportedly asks for a trade

In other obvious news, I'd like an airplane full of money and models.

The July 31 trading deadline is more than two months away, but one of baseball's best pitchers has asked to be put on the market.

Houston Astros ace Roy Oswalt, a three-time National League All-Star, has asked owner Drayton McLane Jr. to be traded, a source said Friday.

Oswalt, 32, is in the fourth year of a five-year, $73 million contract that will pay him $15 million in 2010 and $16 million in 2011. His contract includes a $16 million team option for 2012 or $2 million buyout.

Roy Oswalt Requests Trade From Houston: MLB Rumors - MLBTradeRumors.com

Atlanta, St. Louis and Texas are reportedly Oswalt's top preferences for a new team.
The thought of adding Oswalt to the Cards roster is kinda scary to think. Would help them slay the fighten' Reds in the Central, one would think.
Texas cause he would still be able to live where he does now.

I see Texas as the most likely choice. The Astros are way too old school to let him go to a division rival unless the offer was ridiculous that they couldn't pass it up.

If the Reds didn't have $12.5 mill invested in Harang, they have the prospects to make the deal happen.

Oswalt would really change the dynamics of the Braves rotation. That might be the biggest impact in terms of his effect on the team he could land with.

Having him on the Braves would certainly place them in a better posistion for the race for the wild card.
Also, the Mets would be a good choice you would think. Or not...Money Might Keep Mets From Pursuing Oswalt: MLB Rumors - MLBTradeRumors.com

He also has a no-trade clause, and "Special Ed" may just end up pulling a "JP" and not trade the guy.

Anything involving the mets is not a good choice.

Re: [Rumor] Oswalt reportedly asks for a trade

Joe Strauss of The St. Louis Post-Dispatch says that the Astros rejected a proposal from the Cards earlier this week that would have sent Brendan Ryan and one other player to Houston.
Brendan Ryan and a player to be named later for Roy Oswalt. Genius.
