The A's have reportedly agreed to a deal that will send Chad Bradford (back) to Boston for disgruntled outfielder Jay Payton.
According to the Providence Journal, Payton had a comfrontation with manager Terry Francona in the dugout during Wednesday's game, which sealed his fate. Payton was designated for assignment and the trade will be completed when Bradford returns from the disabled list.

I've been hearing Payton to Oakland for the better part of the past two days. Glad to see Sux getting a RP out of this trade, you can never have to much pitching.

The SF Chronicle reported that Payton's agent said this deal wasn't happening.

Craig Landis, the agent for outfielder Jay Payton, said Friday that, contrary to newspaper and radio reports in Boston, he was informed that no deal has been consummated between Boston and Oakland that would send his client to the A's in exchange for reliever Chad Bradford.
