Milton Bradley a Mariner; Carlos Silva is going to hate Chicago

Seattle Mariners are discussing a trade involving Milton Bradley - MLB - SI.com

This essentially limits Griffey's waste of time at DH, and enables the Mariners to run Bradley out on some sort of OF rotation to get some value out of him. And Carlos Silva is gone.

The Cubs will still suck, though.

I think the Mariners are looking better by the day. They haven't stopped making this team better. I thought they would go after Jason Bay since he is from the area, but Bradley is still a good fit IMO.

Agreed, Griffey's presence may be even less needed now with this move though. He was absolutely a seat filler signing. But after as much as the M's have done this offseason, you'd think that Griffey would be a nuisance to the real baseball fan.

I hate to think of him that way, but seriously, where does he fit?

Ouch. Yeah, he was a part of an amazing lineup back then. One of the best lineups since I have been alive. Couple that with having Randy Johnson as an ace in his prime and you have one heck of a ballclub. Yet, their achilles heel was without a doubt their bullpen. They had nobody. I blame that lack of pen on Griffey's lack of ring.

I was listening to the radio on the way to work and almost crashed the car when I found out. This is a confirmed deal by Jack Z, he was on KJR about an hour ago.

If Bradley is legally sane, this deal is a steal. Never in a million years we would find a sucker for that conract. EVER. Jack Z needs a medal of honor for this deal. Carlos Silva the Cub?!?!? DMB just died again.

Jack Z's moves look much better because of the obviously drunken meth induced decisions made by Bavasi. Its like how a 7 girl looks like a 9 when in a room of 3/4's.

Yeah, there is nothing better than adding Milton Bradley to a team that's on it's way up with a few pretty good trades and signings. Nothing screams contender like adding a closet bi-polar can't field and will ultimately visit the the D.L. 3-4 times at least in a season, to say, yeah, FEAR US NEW YORK!

I still don't think this team has the lineup they need. Anyone on this team slugging better than .500? Still though, I like the risk they are taking with this guy.

They paid little to nothing for a bat. If he doesn't hit, he gets cut, same thing that would happen to Silva, who we know has zero value.

It's not about what they gave up, it's what they had to take on. And they're morons for even bothering. If cutting people is the case, they were better served cutting Silva and buying something at the trade deadline, that isn't seeking mental health advice at some clinic.
