Blue Jays get Merkin Valdez?

According to Mychael Urban of CSNBayArea.com, the Blue Jays have acquired pitcher Merkin Valdez from the Giants for cash considerations.

Heh. Cash considerations. I guess his one-time upside potential is no longer?

Apparently he's out of options, which is too bad because it looks like he should get another year in AAA to start. He had way better numbers as a starter in the minors, then blew out his arm, and was in the MLB 'pen right away, after only pitching one inning in the minors as a reliever.

Anytime you get a guy with a 95MPH+ fastball for "cash considerations", which likely just means that Anthopoulos took Sabean out for lunch, it's a pretty sweet deal.

But I haven't heard about Merkin Valdez, since well, MerkinValdez the user was on the boards.

Jesse Foppert was the bomb in S3SL. And that was so long ago that saying 'the bomb' was only slighly less lame then.
