    Nationals Nats sign Jason Marquis

2 years, $15 million total. He'll eat innings and keep some pressure off the kids and the pen.

    Nationals Marquis the National

The contract is reportedly $15 million for 2 years. Every team Marquis has ever pitched for has made the playoffs. Maybe the Rockies making it last year wasn't completely tied to the Jim Tracy effect after all.

Yeah, well, I was compelled to add a comment instead of just the usual copy and paste, and that's that.

So the Nats are making the bid to end the trend. If they make it to the playoffs this year, Marquis will be a general manager's dream.

Then again, the Nats keep on spending. I am actually looking forward to seeing how well they will do next season.

The collapse Marquis had to end the season in 2009 isn't too encouraging, but it could have been as simple as a rough month. At the price, and the fact that this really does help to solidify the Nats rotation a bit more... I like it. I don't like the contract, but I rarely do when it comes to free agents.

Introducing your designated hitter for interleague play, Jason Marquis!

That's about the same contract we gave him, I think. He has always started the season well, and collapsed after the all star break. Though still a solid pitcher to have. Now thinking about, every team Marquis has pitched for did make it to the playoff. That's a pretty impressive stats.
