That would reduce the value coming to Toronto.

Keith Law talks on the trade, more from the Jays side but does talk about the Seattle and Philly too

Debatable, a lot of people think Wallace has a star potential. Kind of a wash but Jays needed guys who can play the infield more than they need outfielders.
Re: Halladay to Phillies, Lee to Mariners blockbuster agreed to
A lot of people also think Wallace is a first baseman. Taylor is a right fielder. That, and Taylor is arguably as good a hitter.
Re: Halladay to Phillies, Lee to Mariners blockbuster agreed to
if Wallace can play 3B in the majors, it works out nicely for the Jays but I still highly doubt Wallace can stick at 3B
the Jays have a big hole in the farm at 3B

Taylor has been flipped back and forth between LF and RF in the minors, so he's probably more of a left fielder. He's HUGE, 6'6" and 260 lbs, doesn't seem like your prototypical right fielder.
Jays have no good 1B prospects in the system. They drafted a kid named Cooper a couple years ago but he really had a down year.
Re: Halladay to Phillies, Lee to Mariners blockbuster agreed to
Ugh...one of the prospects has failed their physical and the deal may be on hold. Rumors are its Drabek or Aumont.
Re: Halladay to Phillies, Lee to Mariners blockbuster agreed to
Re: Halladay to Phillies, Lee to Mariners blockbuster agreed to
Wow, even with so many players involved, I did not expect this. Can the receiving team of the player involved still accept the deal even with a player coming back who has not passed a physical?
I believe it is up to the team, right?
If not, what happens next? Do they have to replace said player with someone else?
Re: Halladay to Phillies, Lee to Mariners blockbuster agreed to
you're right its up to the team to accept or not
they can try and replace the player with someone if need by but that depends on who it is, i can't see them replacing Aumont or Drabek with another prospect, they will have to rework it somehow
Re: Halladay to Phillies, Lee to Mariners blockbuster agreed to
Phillies call a press conference at 5pm EST to finally announce the acquisition of Roy Halladay from the Toronto Blue Jays for three prospects
maybe the earlier report was a dud?
Re: Halladay to Phillies, Lee to Mariners blockbuster agreed to
Yeah, turns out the failed physical was bogus.
Re: Halladay to Phillies, Lee to Mariners blockbuster agreed to
Yup, done deal now.
Deal is as reported:
•The Phillies get Roy Halladay, Phillippe Aumont, Tyson Gillies, Juan Ramirez, and $6MM. The Phillies will give Halladay a three-year extension plus vesting options.
•The Mariners get Cliff Lee.
•The Blue Jays get Kyle Drabek, Brett Wallace, and Travis d'Arnaud.
•The A's get Michael Taylor.
Anybody remember a bigger trade?
What's really crazy is that the Phillies have traded (I think) 8 of their top 10 prospects (from BA's list) this year.
Its going to be quite interesting to see how the Taylor/Wallace swap works out, that could end up being the deal that defines if Anthopolous took the right offer.
Boy, AA's got some big cohones, this is no small move.
Re: Halladay to Phillies, Lee to Mariners blockbuster agreed to
AA had to make some sort of move, and he sure did make a big one.
He showed up in a bit of a mess, and had to do something to show that A) He's not JP B) Try to improve the team and C) actually do something to change the culture of the Jays.
My Score
A) Check
B) Unkown
C) Check
2 out of 3 ain't bad.
