MLB 3-Way Trade: Yankees, Tigers and D'Backs

    http://www.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/e...91437/18824796

MLB.com 's Day 1 roundup mentions a meeting with the Yankees, D-backs and Tigers reportedly talking about a blockbuster trade that would send Detroit outfielder Curtis Granderson to New York and right-hander Edwin Jackson to Arizona.

The proposed deal would have Granderson and one or two D-backs prospects going to the Yankees, and Jackson and Yankees right-hander Ian Kennedy going to the D-backs. The Tigers would receive right-hander Max Scherzer from the D-backs, and center fielder Austin Jackson and left-handed relievers Phil Coke and Michael Dunn from the Yankees.

Looks like the deal is done.

    Granderson to the Yanks
Austin Jackson, Scherzer, Phil Coke, and some prospect named Schlerzer to Detroit
Edwin Jackson and Ian Kennedy to the DBacks.

I like this move for Detroit, Austin Jackson looks like the real deal and might be able to replace Granderson's value in a year or two at a fraction of the price, and Scherzer has as much or more talent than Edwin Jackson.

Smart move for the Yanks bringing in a CF who can hit and play every day. Cabrera was not a long term answer there. Now they can bring Damon back for LF/DH duty.

    EDIT: Granderson signed a 5 year / $30M contract in 2008

    Schlereth's cube page:

Dominant minor league numbers, but under 40 minor league innings doesn't seem MLB ready to me. 28th pick in 2008 draft.

I don't get this from the DBacks side, they give up Scherzer and Schlereth for Jackson and Kennedy?

Heyman is talking about it on a special report on MLB Network.

So what happens with Damon if Granderson puts on the stripes?
I really like the potential of the deal for the Tigers, but they are certainly giving up a lot to get it done.`

This one kind of came out of nowhere for me. Good to see deals getting done though...

My guess is Damon re-signs and plays LF and DHs, Granderson in CF, and Swisher/Melky Cabrera in RF.

I like it for Detroit, or well I like Scherzer the most. I like Granderson too, but I guess Cashman has a plan to replace Coke and Bruney in the pen. He gives them some nice defense and power, AND IS BETTER THAN ****ING MIKE CAMERON, SISYPHUS. SUCK IT.

And Edwin Jackson must be a cancer the equivalent of Milton Bradley. Career year in Tampa, dealt the next season for Matt Joyce. Career year in Detroit and an all-star, dealt this off-season for Mark Schlereth's kid and Max Scherzer (although that isn't horrible but they also dealt Granderson..and Ian Kennedy is still a bust until he proves otherwise)

We can still sign Cameron too you know. Just saying. Grandma in left, Cameron in center. Melky fills in against LHP for Grandma.

I like the deal, Jackson, while kinda young, still hasn't developed power and his plate discipline is iffy, I really think Grandma would have been his ceiling and never got the love for him.

Losing Coke who gave up a homer like every pitch is fine, Bruney is meh. I think Cash fills from the inside, still have Dunn and Melancon, not to mention a ton of others. With Mo and Robertson and to an extent a healthy Marte and even Aceves, I'm not worried.

Kennedy is meh, not sad to see him go with McAllister almost ready, and Nova seemingly righting the ship. Plus? We always have Kei Igawa.

    What?

Actually, I think its more that Edwin Jackson is a target teams seem to want more than the team he's on seems to want him.

Ian Kennedy = Greg Maddux without the command...which must be like a Caucasian Carlos Silva

The Dbags must be scared off by Max Scherzer's violent delivery. I hope he makes them pay, because fuuuuuck, now we have to face Edwin Jackson up to 6 times a year.

    Re: 3-Way Trade Happens

If I'm the Yanks, I feel good that all I traded away was AJax.

If I'm the Tigers, I'm glad I got a ton back for a declining CF.

If I'm the D'backs, I'd be packing my shit right now and leaving town.
