According to FOXSports.com, the Blue Jays will receive infielders Edwin Encarnacion and Yonder Alonso from the Reds for third baseman Scott Rolen.

This has to be connected to the JH Jr. for Jackson trade. Both are wayyy to extreme on their own. Also, can Alonso even be dealt yet?

Oh I'm well within a stable mind right now. If it is (and its being disputed by a lot of people) EE and Alonso then there better be some beefed up security and cars on tire watch. It makes no sense to trade Alonso for Rolen.

This blows almost as bad. I wanted Roenicke to get a look after we traded Weathers (or he leaves as a free agent after this year). Stewart seemed to be a high riser in many Reds circles.

I understand he can hit well now, but there is no power in his bat, what so ever..

Apparently he was worth arguably our best SP spec, and one of our best relief specs...
I guess thats what it took to pa Rolen's salary because there is no way we can pay it. This deal is terrible, I would have preferred trading Alonso I think. At least then you could use the excuse he didn't have a place to play. Bob is pressing way to hard here I think.

I'd give up Stewart any day over Alonso. I like Stewart, don't get me wrong, but I would have freaked out if we gave up someone with the kind of ceiling that Alonso has to be a lineup difference maker for years to come.

I'm very happy the Jays got anything for Rolen, big salary, great defense and can hit the ball but has no power in his swing anymore

The Reds will also receive an undisclosed amount of cash from Toronto to offset some of Rolen's salary. He is making $11 million this season and is due to make $11 million in 2010.

Ya, I may be over-valuing Stewart. His numbers have been very impressive, can't say I've even seen him pitch though. With the way the Reds are talking, Rolen LOVES Cincinnati and was the one pushing the Jays to make this deal. Hopefully he holds up and can stick at 3rd for another 4 years or so. Otherwise, this moves doesn't make to much sense.

If Cliff Lee doesnt cost the Phillies one of their top 4 prospects then why in the blue *@#& does Scott Bleepin Rolen cost us our top pitching prospect? ITS INSANE. I wish Cast would sale the team if he was directly pushing this deal cause he is a moron in the class of Dan Snyder. If this was a Walt move then I wish Wayne was back he might drive you nuts and stupid contracts with the little moves but he was smart enough to avoid the big mistakes I cant say that for Walt at this point.
