    Re: Halladay on the Block?

Its not certain that Halladay will be traded yet. All that was said that they would be stupid not to listen. They are not actively trading him and if he was stupidly traded in the division, he would command a big time deal regardless.

Hey HiG thought of an idea. There was a rumor on Blue Jays Radio that you all were getting EE and a spect for Rolen.

Rolen for Tavares (offset cost/stopgap), and a couple middliling spects?

The Yankees farm system was rated just barely ahead of the Mets. Both teams have middle of the pack farm systems, with little in terms of MLB ready prospects.

Anyway, it'd probably take Jackson, Montero, and one more prospect(at least) for Halladay.

Porter, you wouldn't make it so public if your intent wasn't to deal him, why else create a circus if that isn't your eventual goal.

That's the thing. It's not Ricciardi creating a circus, it's the media and everyone else being too stupid to actually pay attention to what he's saying. All he's said is that they'll listen. That's a standard answer and means nothing. It's the media and everyone else making the assumption that he'll be traded...

Riccardi: "I'm not so sure payroll-wise where we're going to be able to be after 2010," he said. "I'm not so sure that the player wants to stay here beyond 2010."

When you say that and then put him on the block you are trying to deal him...the media is making a legit deal outta this unlike Michael Jackson

HE NEVER SAID THAT HALLADAY WAS ON "THE BLOCK". The block implies you are doing everything to trade him right now. Halladay can be traded before the deadline, over the offseason, or NEXT trade deadline. Ricciardi has no reason to HAVE to trade him right now, and he isn't trying to trade him NOW. He's acknowledging that a trade will have to happen, but not necessarily now.

    Re: Halladay on the Block?

From what I listened to today on ESPN radio, it seems that he will be traded this year. He is a top notch player. If a GM says he will listen to offers for a top notch player, it is my thought that such player will be traded. Especially since it makes no sense to keep him since they will not win the WS.

    Scott Rolen has value?

anything is good for rolen at this point, never know when he will get injured again, he's been quite good this year but he doesn't have the power he used to.

    Re: Halladay on the Block?

If Halladay finishes this season strong, they can still trade him in the offseason, when every other team is potentially a buyer.

    Re: Halladay on the Block?

You could mofo, but when you get Halladay for 2 races instead of 1 it def impacts on how much you will be willing to give up... if the Blue Jays want 4-5 top specs (which seems to be the price) i highly doubt any team will give that up for 1 year (See CC to Milwaukee (May instead of April but close enough)) I feel like if you want to get the royal return he deserves the best time to trade him is now.

Also what happens if the economy doesnt recover, who is going to want to take on a 15 mil player for 1 season, no future committment in the face of lowering attendance?
