White Sox Peavy To The White Sox?

Just caught the last minute of Buster Olney's breaking report on Mike and Mike In the Morning on ESPN Radio and he was talking about Jake Peavy being traded to the White Sox. When asked what he thinks would happen, Olney said he thinks this will happen because Kenny Williams and Kevin Towers are deal makers. I did not get to hear who would be involved unfortunately but I am sure there will be tons more on this as the day goes on. Very interesting that Olney thinks it will get done. The Padres have no chance of reaching October and the White Sox currently sit 5.5 games out of first. With Peavy on the mound for them, they could climb the ladder pretty quickly though Peavy would miss PetCo Park. Interesting to see where this goes from here.

Apparently Bud Black called Peavy into his office last night to bring up the White Sox interest. It all rests on Peavy and his no trade clause now.

This doesn't make much sense... that team is so far away from being a WS contender... i just don't get it...

If I were Peavy, why would I want to pitch for the White Sox? Tough division and a team that prolly won't make the playoffs.

Its not that tough of a division and the White Sox have a better chance than the Padres do. 5.5 games out of a weak division in May is not hard to overcome. Plus the White Sox have money coming off the books after this year which will help the team get even better.

Have to wait for Peavy to say yes first.

They can't tell us who's in the deal until he approves it?

Nope, what's the point? If Peavy says no, the deal (if there is one) is dead.

The talk is Aaron Poreda, Clayton Richard, plus one or two others. No Gordon Beckham, though. It appears that Peavy has waived his no-trade for the discussion to even occur.

Yeah SI is saying they have agreed to a deal in principle. All Peavy has to do is sign off. The NL leader in K's could be going to the ChiSox. WOW!

Padres, White Sox agree; deal up to Peavy | MLB.com: News

Two players believed to be in deal are left-handers Clayton Richard and Aaron Poreda, a first-round Draft pick in 2007 who would be the kind of front-line starter the Padres would desire.
That might just be pure speculation, though
